"Kaustos"

‘Kaustos’, showcasing a custom Damascus Steel pattern flowing across the blade in a hand-polished mirror finish. Crafted with ancient meteorite deriving from the Muonionalusta meteorite from the border of Sweden and Finland, its structure consists of iron and nickel formed over millions of years that truly sets it apart from many iron meteorite species; being one of the few meteorite specimens dated to be one of the oldest ever recorded, dating from before the formation of Earth… The meteorite was carefully layered with high carbon alloy and folded to create over 1000 layers of Damascus steel, providing a flexible and hardened blade.

Named “‘Kaustos”, from the Greek translation of “burned by fire”; paired with a handle hand-carved to create an otherworldly aura, heavily inspired by the mysteries of space and terrestrial life; mirroring that of an ancient organism consumed by time…

Nicely weighted and comfortable in the hand, the blade balances just inside the finger groove. The blade holds a nimble rocking motion and comfortable grip, built for both artistic fashion and useability for environments such as working the hardened sharp cutting edge in a culinary setting.
