“Iridescence”
‘Iridescence’, featuring a custom blade forged with high carbon pattern-welded Damascus Steel in a solid steel handle construction. Crafted with the Muonionalusta meteorite discovered in 1906, and a “Titanium Aura Kyanite” features a hand-forged and carved handle inspired by the mysteries of our universe.
The Design
The Damascus steel used in this blade, forged together with meteorite iron, represents a process mastered by only a select few craftsmen worldwide. It begins with two steels: 15n20, known for its nickel-rich composition, and 1084, a high-carbon alloy. When these steels are submerged in acid, they respond differently—the carbon-rich 1084 dissolves, while the nickel content of 15n20 remains intact. Layer by layer, these materials are stacked, heated to near-melting temperatures, and forge-welded into a single, cohesive bar.
The Story
With precision and technique, the steel is shaped and manipulated into intricate patterns. The meteorite iron, sourced from the Muonionalusta, is then introduced. Its structure, known as the Widmanstätten pattern, tells its own story of time itself—formed by billions of years of slow cooling in space. The iron and nickel within the meteorite being left to separate into a lattice pattern, revealed when submerged into acid similarly to the Damascus Steel in the blade.
The Making
However, this extraordinary pattern is fragile. If heated beyond 800°F, the delicate alignment disperses, erasing what took billions of years to form. Once lost, it cannot be restored—no modern technological process can replicate it. Tristan Dare, amongst only the few, has developed a proprietary process to preserve this lattice structure through the intensive heating of the forging, forge welding, quenching and tempering process; preserving this beautiful pattern through careful steps to showcase nature’s celestial hieroglyphs into the final finish of the blade.

Yes. Since this blade is also forged with purified alloys such as 15n20/ 1084 steel, holds a sharp and hardened cutting edge great for culinary use.
With that said, meteorite still contains natural impurities and imperfections, and harsh/ extraneous use is not recommended. Simple, delicate, precise cuts is “Iridescence” forte!

This piece is forged with the Muonionalusta meteorite, which is one of the oldest meteorites ever recorded coming from between the border of Sweden and Finland. Discovered in 1906, the natural crystalline structure is still preserved in the final finish of the blade.

Yes! It’s still always recommended to check local laws and regulations on the import of custom blades before purchasing.
This blade is categorized as a culinary kitchen/ chef’s knife.
