Derived from the ancient Greek word Akantha, deriving from the meaning of an organic, defensive natural weapon growing from the body of a plant or creature; this piece draws inspiration from the immense preservation of natural organisms. The organic decay derivative of time, and the high polish a sign of an object preserved in place if its past life.

Forged from over 300 layers of high-polished custom meteorite Damascus, in which genuine Muonionalusta meteorite was layered with 1084 carbon steel to create a topography of layers showing every hammer strike and manipulation of the layers through the forging process. Mirror polished on nearly every surface, 24k gold is plated to embellish certain elements; including the spine, which consists of a pure fragment of Muonionalusta meteorite (one of the oldest meteorites ever recorded). The meteorite has been acid etched to display its natural crystalline structure within the iron, representing a cross-hatched crystallization of nickel-bearing "needles" only present in meteorites that have cooled for billions of years in the vacuum of space from a liquid to a solid, and never to replicated by any technological process in our lifetime.

Measuring 127mm (4.9 inches) closed, and 218mm (8.6 inches) open, Akantha folds in a linerlock mechanism with an organic silhouette where the intent was to create something that felt discovered, rather than manufactured. Born from meteorite, carbon and stainless steel; the inspiration for this piece bridges the deepest regions of Earth with the furthest reaches of space, a fragment of the abyss carried in the palm of your hand.

To accompany the knife, a custom bespoke stand comes included with the piece for display. Included is a signed Certificate of Authenticity.
